Our driver-guides  – are Blue Badge Tourist Guides  who are members of The Driver Guides Association and have undergone a thorough process of selection, training, examination and registration.

They are informative, interesting and friendly and will take care of all the details and arrangements whilst you relax and enjoy the tour.

Our vehicle – is a comfortable people carrier for up to six passengers. It has good legroom and elevation to give passengers excellent all round visibility and enable them to see over walls and hedgerows.


Prices are per car with a Blue Badge Driver-Guide and include parking and road tolls

Half day in Cumbria – £420 [1-3 people] to £465 [4-6 people].

Full day in Cumbria – £610 [1-3 people] to £640 [4-6 people].

Extended tours – [1-3 people] £690 [4-6 people] £725

This amazing monument can be explored along its length; visiting:

Diversity of landscape and maritime history are the keynotes of this fascinating stretch of coastline.
The scenery includes; salt marshes, sand dunes, sandstone cliffs and major river estuaries.
Its historic repertoire varies; with Roman coastal defences, medieval abbeys, historic 18th century harbours and later industrial sites – all to be visited.

Terms and Conditions

All members of the Driver-Guides Association are covered by personal public liability insurance. Their vehicles are all insured for private hire or hire and reward and they hold the correct licences required by their local public authority.

Supplement for Public Holidays
25 December – £176 for a half day and £288 for a full day.
Good Friday, Easter Day, Easter Monday, 26 December & 1 January – £90 for a half day and £147 for a full day.

During the current COVID-19 situation, if a confirmed booking is cancelled, the following charges, plus any unrecoverable expenditure (e.g. pre-booked hotels or tickets), will apply:
Until two weeks before the first booked touring date: Full refund of fees.
Two weeks’ notice or less: 50% of the total fee.
One week’s notice or less: 75% of the total fee.
48 hours’ notice or less: 100% of the total fee.

Cumbrian Discoveries is not responsible for cancellations due to unscheduled closures by third party suppliers, or events beyond its control, but it will take all possible steps to offer an alternative. Nor is it liable for any loss, accident, injury or damage to clients and their personal effects.

In the event of your Guide considering that you should not attempt to do a specific tour – for example because of unexpected adverse weather – and there is no mutually agreeable alternative tour, you will receive a full refund for any monies paid for guide services.

Cumbrian Discoveries cancellation policy will not be varied to accommodate clients who cancel tours because of conditions prevailing outside the UK. Such costs should be recovered from clients’ Travel Insurer.

Cumbrian Discoveries recommends that all clients have suitable travel insurance to cover any losses that may arise from cancellations.

Children under 17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times during a tour except by prior agreement.

Seat Belts and Child Seats
UK law requires seatbelts to be worn by all occupants of a moving vehicle. Clients are responsible for providing an appropriate child car seat for babies and small children.

Please provide appropriate child car seats for babies and small children. With advance notice your Driver Guide may be able to supply a suitable child seat at an extra charge.

No Smoking
UK law forbids smoking in any Private Hire Vehicle.

Extending a tour
If clients wish to extend their tour beyond the agreed booked time, this is normally possible, subject to agreement about the additional expense this will incur.
